Celebrating Women's History Month with Women for Women

Alice has proudly supported Women for Women International as an Ambassador since 2015. The charity is dedicated to uplifting women in some of the world’s most challenging regions – those who have survived war, conflict, and extreme inequality.

Women for Women International has been providing women with vocational training, financial resources, and a supportive sisterhood since 1993. The charity helps marginalised women rebuild their lives, regain their independence, and create lasting change in their communities. When women thrive, families, economies, and societies flourish.

To date, the movement has impacted over 570,000 women across 17 countries, creating a powerful ripple effect toward a more equal, peaceful, and prosperous world. Below is the story of how the movement has helped one such woman.

Nema, a 33-year-old mother of five from South Sudan, once supported her family through farming. But when conflict broke out in 2016, she was forced to flee, losing access to her livelihood. For years, insecurity kept her from rebuilding—until Women for Women International’s programmes reopened in 2019.

With new skills, resources, and support, Nema rejoined the programme and, by 2020, had successfully launched a small business. Today, she earns a profit selling essentials like eggs, sugar, soap, tea leaves, beer, and soda, helping to provide for her children’s education and secure her family’s future.
